Junior Coaching Program

Start here: Riders Getting Started

Kids aged 4-6

Can only participate in Recreational activities.
Recreational activities– allow you to participate in Non-Competitive events. i.e. Practice Days, Trail Rides, Tuning, Coaching and demo classes at competition events.
No longer need to do the Kickstart prior to participating. They will undergo a 'club induction' for new kids under 7 at club days, enabling them to buy a ‘Mini’ Licence (day or annual) and participate. They will also not have a Logbook. From age 6 they can do a Kickstart Program to gain OR50 endorsement and Logbook ready for when they turn 7.

‘Juniors’ -those aged 7- to under 16

Can participate in either Recreational OR Competition Activities.
Recreational activities – Practice Days, Trail Rides, Tuning, Coaching.
Competitive activities – National, State, Club and Open events.
First step is to attend a Kick Start Day or Coaching Day and complete 5 hours coaching.
You can then via Ridernet purchase a 'Mini' (recreational),  ‘Junior National’ or ‘Junior Restricted’ licence.

Once a junior reaches age 16, they step up to Senior Licence (they can complete as junior in competition year, provided they are U16 on 1st January of that year and do not step up to senior competition prior to completion of that series).

All 16/17 year old riders MUST still be accompanied and signed on by a responsible adult aged 18+

CAPACITY ENDORSEMENT

The simplest way to understand the new rules relating to endorsements for capacities is to note that each rider must be endorsed on the highest capacity machine on which he/ she rides. Once endorsed on their highest capacity machine, riders are then permitted to participate on machines with capacities less than that of their highest endorsement (and in accordance with the allowable ages for each class/ capacity).
This endorsement MUST be noted on the participant’s plastic licence prior to them being able to participate on that machine. Endorsement coaching is when the junior rider steps up a class (until age 16).

DISCIPLINE ENDORSEMENT

In addition to the requirements for these capacity endorsements, different disciplines have also been grouped together and each individual will also be required to have these “discipline endorsements” included on their competition licence:
The CAPACITY & DISCIPLINE endorsement MUST be noted on the plastic Motorcycling Australia licence; simply having it noted in the logbook cannot be accepted.

As soon as the junior has completed an endorsement course IMMEDIATELY get your licence updated via your Ridernet profile.

Active Kids Program

Motorcycle sport is included in the government Active Kids Program.
This means kids can use their Service NSW voucher towards their competition licence! Visit MNSW for info.
